What is Connect the Classroom? (click for more information)

Connect the Classroom (CTC) is a fully funded, DfE Project aimed at equipping schools with the latest Wifi6 infrastructure.

Over the last two years, the project has been focussed on around 1,000 pilot schools across the country but has now been extended to a further 3,500 schools based either in a Priority Investment Area (including; Blackpool, Halton, Knowsley, Liverpool, Oldham, Rochdale, Salford, Stoke on Trent & Tameside), an Education Investment Area (includes schools who were judged as either Requiring Improvement or Inadequate at their last Ofsted in areas including; Bolton, Bury, Derbyshire, Knowsley, Manchester, Sefton, St Helens & Wirral) or All Intervention Schools. MGL have been working with the DfE in the initial pilot phase of this programme as well as in the current wave, and can guide schools through the entire process from initial application, through installation and claiming the funding.

The process couldn’t be easier.

  1. All eligible schools and Trusts should have been contacted by DfE however, if you believe that your school is eligible but has not been contacted, MGL can make contact with the DfE’s Regional Programme Managers on your behalf.
  2. Contact MGL and arrange for a site survey to take place which should consider not only your existing switching and Wireless infrastructure but also any future requirements the school may have.
  3. MGL will work with our partners including Ruckus, Cambium, Cisco Meraki, HP Aruba and DLink in order to provide your school with a range of costed options which all meet the DfE’s technical specifications.
  4. MGL will then produce a technical verification document for you to share with the DfE’s project team outlining the equipment we are proposing to deploy and installation plan for their approval.
  5. The DfE will email the school to agree the funding required to deliver the plan.
  6. The school will then liaise with your MGL Project Manager to arrange installation.
  7. MGL will provide the school with all required technical and financial documentation required to send to the DfE.
  8. The DfE will release payment of the grant direct to the school.

MGL will provide all technical, project management, installation and administration support required. All your school needs to do is to send the documentation to the DfE.
